WHITE TANK MOUNTAIN REGIONAL PARK
Surround yourself in the rugged beauty of the desert at the largest regional park in the county. With nearly 25 miles of shared-use trails among 30,000 acres of Sonoran desert, the park is one of the area’s ideal spots for experiencing our famous terrain. ADOBE MOUNTAIN DESERT RAILROAD PARK
Take the family for a ride on one of five routes operated by Maricopa Live Steamers. Every Sunday the park offers free train rides for visitors along their 13 miles of railroad track. Guests can also enjoy railroad artifacts and model-train layouts and browse research materials.
 
CERRETA CANDY COMPANY
What’s your favorite indulgence? Truffles and caramels? Or simply a one pound bar of dark chocolate? Well, at Cerreta’s Candy Factory you can find all of this and more. In addition to selling its chocolate in boxed assortments, the factory sells its creams, caramels, crunches, truffles and other candies by the piece. You can even take a guided factory tour, held Monday-Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
 
TOUR  STATE FARM STADIUM
You’ve seen it on TV. It’s hosted two Super Bowls. It hosts the annual Fiesta Bowl and has hosted the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Now you can go behind the scenes and tour the facility recognized as one of the best sporting venues in the world. Public tours are available on select days throughout the year.

PIONEER LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM
Step back in time to more than 100 years ago, before cars filled the streets. At Pioneer Living History Museum, visitors can explore 30 historic buildings, including a blacksmith shop and a mercantile store. You can even look through a 1890s dress shop and tour a sheriff’s office.
 
TOLMACHOFF FARMS
Spend your day down on the farm. Tolmachoff Farms is a fourth generation family-operated farm that grows a selection of fruits and vegetables. The farm also puts on special events and activities throughout the year, including Family Farm Day, Pumpkin Days and a Corn Maze, a haunted corn maze for Halloween, as well as Christmas events throughout December.
 
ISM RACEWAY
Check out one of the NASCAR races that make a pit stop here in March and November. If you want to see how fast you can fly on a professional raceway, book one of a variety of NASCAR racing experiences and ride shotgun while a racing instructor takes you to top speeds. 
 
CACTUS LEAGUE SPRING TRAINING
With our sunny skies and perfect spring weather, it’s no wonder why Arizona is the hub of all things Spring Training. There are a total of ten stadiums throughout the Greater Phoenix that host baseball teams, five of them located in the West Valley. The Spring Training baseball schedule goes from the end of February until the end of March.

Luke Air Park
Luke Air Force Base was named for World War I pilot Frank Luke Jr., the first aviator awarded the Medal of Honor, who was born in Phoenix in 1897. The base's primary mission is to train fighter pilots, including those who fly the F-35, the nation's most sophisticated fighter jet. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through May, members of the general public without base ID can schedule tours from 9 a.m. to noon to see a static display of a dozen aircraft in which Luke pilots have been trained over its history. You can also stop at the Medal of Honor Memorial and pay respects to Arizona heroes whose names are displayed. Thousands flock to the base each year (typically in March) for the Lightning in the Desert Open House and Air Show, featuring aircraft displays and aerial performances, especially the precision maneuvers of the Air Force Thunderbirds.

Sky Zone
An indoor trampoline park that offers connected and angled trampolines so kids can actually bounce off the walls. Sky Zone also offers skyrobics, an aerobic trampoline class and dodgeball leagues. Kids will love endless jumping. They can practice flips, handsprings and aerial splits in a protected space that also doubles as a dodgeball court. Little ones 5 or younger can jump in an area reserved just for them. Don't miss the online reservation system. Buying tickets online is the only way to ensure a spot for open jump and skyrobics.
 
Sahuaro Ranch Park
Tours of the Main House Museum at Sahuaro Ranch Park Historic Area continue through July, allowing visitors to learn more about the building, built from 1891 to '98 and the history of the people who lived there. Although tours stop for the month of August, the historic buildings, barnyards and fruit orchards remain accessible. Regular touring hours resume in September.

 Wazee's World
This place has the trifecta of indoor play: laser tag, miniature golf and bounce houses. What's more, the golf is "cosmic golf" with glow-in-the-dark obstacles. The Area 51-themed laser-tag area will keep kids busy for a while. Don't miss the all-you-can-play specials.

When visitors want a real, authentic taste of the Wild West, they visit Wickenburg. The town has successfully merged the past with the present in a way that awakens the cowboy in everyone.

The resort, which was built in 1918 as an executive retreat for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., has become a popular West Valley destination for locals and visitors. Pump It Up
The indoor bounce-house playground offers parties and open jump. Attractions include inflatable bounce houses with slides and obstacle courses that will keep the kids busy for hours. The Great Skate
The old-school roller-skating rink includes an arcade and a cafe. Lessons are available,  which covers the cost of rentals, and include more than two hours of free skating time right after.

Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve
The Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve, formerly known as the Deer Valley Rock Art Center, is a 47-acre nature preserve featuring over 1500 Hohokam, Patayan, and Archaic petroglyphs visible on 500 basalt boulders in the Deer Valley area of Phoenix, Arizona.

With  about 800 acres used for the two-year crop, the locale ranks in the top three rosebush growing areas in the nation. Rose bushes grown in Arizona account for half of all the roses sold in the nation. It’s not a farm that gives unannounced tours, but to see and smell the fields in bloom in early spring is worth at least a drive by.

Surprise City Hall – The Surprise Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission selects rotating art displays and some permanent pieces of the city’s art collection located in the first floor lobby and hallway of Surprise City Hall, 16000 N Civic Center Plaza. Valley Vista Performing Arts Center – Valley Vista High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) is a state-of-the-art performing arts center operated by the Dysart Unified School District. This venue offers a roomy lobby, 1,300 plush seats, professional BOSE sound, and theatrical lighting. The PAC plays host to a variety of arts and cultural events. West Valley Conservatory of Ballet – WVCB is a nonprofit organization that strives to provide the community with classical ballet training. WVCB also has a performing arts company that consists of volunteer dancers whom are classically trained and have a passion for their art.  www.wvballet.org

West Valley Symphony – The West Valley Symphony presents concerts for listening enjoyment and provides an opportunity for orchestral music education. westvalleysymphony.org Surprise Pops Band – This band plays free concerts in the West Valley, including in Surprise. WHAM Art Association & Gallery – WHAM presents programs, exhibitions and special events which foster interaction between artist and the community. The association also maintains WHAM West Gallery, a beautiful showroom for juried art shows and special events. www.wham-art.org

Catitude Art Gallery – Catitude provides artist show and studio space, guest artists each month, special events and a variety of art forms. Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts - A state-ofthe-art 600-seat theater dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational richness of Wickenburg and our surrounding communities. Desert Caballeros Museum – This museum aims to collect and preserve the history, learning, lore and mementos incident to the development of Wickenburg and the Arizona Territory. The Maricopa Trail
The Maricopa Trail offers visitors to NW Valley  a vast area of Sonoran Desert and mountain hiking with easy access. It lies at the far west of Surprise and connects to White Tank Mountain Regional Park, which features an additional 25 miles of excellent shared-use trails. 

The Maricopa Trail is an unfinished 242-mile (389 km) trail located within Maricopa County and connecting the major regional and municipal parks in and around the Phoenix metropolitan area. A loop trail encircling much of the urbanized area, the trail also consists of four spurs that will connect the loop with outlying mountain parks in the region. The trail crosses the U.S. 60 in Surprise, and approximately 15 miles of the trail  run west of the Loop 303. Conceptualized in 1997 by the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department, the Maricopa Trail was envisioned as a pedestrian beltway that would connect nine of the department’s 10 regional parks, linking them with the city of Phoenix’s South Mountain Park and encouraging their use by the area’s residents. The trail incorporates existing portions of the Sun Circle Trail, the National Trail in South Mountain Park, portions of the trails within White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Cave Creek Regional Park and pathways already developed along the McMicken corridor in Surprise. Construction on new segments of the trail began in 2006 and has brought the total length of the existing corridors to approximately 80 miles (130 km). The Maricopa Trail connects nine county parks as well as one municipal park:

Pickleball Tourist Craze
Tony, a Canadian tourist, said the main reason he visits Surprise each year for his winter vacation is the great weather, reasonable hotels and the awesome pickleball courts in Surprise Community Park! Surprise Community Park alone has over 16 courts. The courts are lighted and open from 6am to 10pm.
 
What is Pickleball? Pickleball is the fastest growing sport for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple, the equipment is minimal, and the game can be enjoyed by beginners to those who enjoy a fast-paced, competitive game. In short, pickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Pickleball is played on a badminton-size court, which is a shorter court than a tennis court with a lower net than what is used in tennis. Pickleball is played with a plastic ball and paddle. According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association there are more than 2.5 million pickleball participants in the United States.

14534 W Tierra Buena Ln, Surprise 85374  Information: The 16 courts are lighted and open from 6am. to 10pm daily except when tournaments or special events reserve the courts. Play is free and open to the public. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings are very active, mostly advanced players. 

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons 5pm to 8pm are generally new and social players. Monday and Friday are typically ladies days. Leagues and Ladders are scheduled at various times.
  • Happy Trails Resort: 17200 W Bell Rd, Surprise 85374 Information: Gated RV community. All levels of play. 6 lighted courts, club membership required for some activities. Daily play. Private community, but member guests permitted with restrictions. Ownership property, some rentals available.
  • Sun City Grand: 17100 W Clearview Blvd, Surprise 85387 Information: Age-restricted community by Del Webb. One of 4 age-restricted communities within a 6-mile diameter with a total of more than 100 courts. Sun City Grand currently has 22 courts. Must be a member or a guest.
  • Sunflower RV Resort: 16501 N El Mirage Rd, Surprise 85378 Information: 7 courts. Open daily October through March. Call for schedule 623.583.0100
