The Chamber’s Action Alerts are sent to members and the business community when their action is needed.  Action Alerts enable the business community to engage in the political process. Your voice will make a difference. The Chamber is not affiliated with any governmental entity. The mission of the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce is to champion economic prosperity, foster a pro-business climate, and to improve the quality of life in our region.

Background:

·         In February 2017, Surprise City Council approved removing the temporary sign policies adopted during the 2009 economic downturn and the 2016 Bell-Grand construction project to support permanent and more engaging signage throughout the city.

·         Effective April 23, 2017, all businesses and organizations must adhere to the original signage policy which includes, but is not limited to: • A-frames are not permitted city-wide • Building banners are only allowed twice per year, for 30 days city-wide • In the event of a Grand Opening, the building banner is permitted for a 60-day period city-wide • Special events require a Temporary Use Permit* *This requirement was temporarily lifted for Bell-Grand businesses under the temporary policy

·         The next step in the process is a series of discussions with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Each session will cover a specific topic related to the sign code, as outlined below.

·         Following the Planning & Zoning Commission discussions, staff will make the appropriate revisions to the draft sign code, post the revised draft to the city’s website for public review, and schedule public hearings for Fall 2017.

·         The Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce is encouraging business owners to make your voice heard.
