Chamber To Host Fire-side Chat With US Congressman
The Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce Will Host a Fireside Chat with US Congressman Trent Franks, and Present an Award for his Pro-Business Policies
The Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce will join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to recognize U.S Congressman Trent Franks (District 8) for his support of pro-growth, pro-jobs policies by awarding him the Spirit of Enterprise Award at its monthly membership meeting in Surprise Az, on Tuesday, August 22. The program will also feature an informal fireside chat with US Congressman Franks and afford Chamber members and guests, a firsthand opportunity to learn about how top business issues that are playing out on the national stage.
“The Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to have been selected as the venue to present the award to Congressman Trent Franks,” said Mr. Sada, President, and CEO. The Spirit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress who advocated for legislation identified as critical to the business community by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Congressman Trent Franks was among the select group of honorees this year for his votes in favor of a wide range of pro-growth policies. In addition to the awards presentation there will be a brief fire-side chat with the Congressman, and will afford the Chamber members an opportunity to dialog with the congressman, said Raymond Grim the Chamber’s Public Affairs chairperson.
Mr. Sada stated the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce serves as the leading business advocate for area businesses and that developing a relationship with all elected officials helps the Chamber influence public policy that helps support our mission.
Mr. Grim elaborated by stating one of the most valuable, and often overlooked, benefits of membership in the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce is our Legislative Advocacy program of work. We refer to these activities in our tagline as the “Voice of the Business Community.” The Chamber analyzes proposed legislation and takes positions on important issues, from support for regulatory reform to aggressively pursuing economic development opportunities for the benefit of our business community. Putting our members in front elected officials has real value in making our voice heard, said Grim.
Congressman Trent Franks is currently serving his eighth term in the United States Congress. Trent serves on the House Judiciary Committee, in the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, and in the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, where he is the outgoing Chairman. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, serving in the Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, and is the Vice Chair of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee. Trent Co-Chairs the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Caucus as well as the Congressional Caucus on Adoption, the Congressional Foster Youth Caucus, and the International Religious Freedom Caucus.
