El Mirage

The 1937 agricultural beginnings of El Mirage provided roots for a community centered on cultural ties and family growth.  As development in the West Valley accelerated, El Mirage became one of the fastest growing communities in the West Valley.  What once had the feel of a sleepy village has become a thriving community of over 32,000 plus active residents keen on providing schools and amenities while retaining a community spirit.

Within its 11 square miles, there is a high school and five elementary schools.  A Library, Municipal Court and active Senior Center provide services for intergenerational needs.  Retail growth includes several large box stores along with a variety of restaurants and numerous smaller business services.  The new City Park is under construction and scheduled for opening July, 2009; it will be home to the newly-formed White Tanks Little League and also features a state-of-the-art skate park, outdoor basketball courts, doggie park, children’s splash pad and central outdoor stage for performances.

The city is in the process of updating its General Plan to capture and allow for many creative and progressive economic development opportunities.  Emphasis is placed on promoting growth through careful planning and innovation.  Major improvements are also in various stages of planning along the cities’ front door boundary of Grand Avenue, on its north/south central thoroughfare of El Mirage Road, and along the southern boundary of Northern Avenue.  The City has partnered with Friends of the Agua Fria River redevelopment project that borders the entire eastern length of the city and envisions extensive development to include entertainment, restaurants and outdoor activities for all ages.

El Mirage is statistically proven to be a very safe city to live in and has an active police force involved and engaged in many neighborhood activities and initiatives.  With affordable housing, a safe environment, growing schools and economic development opportunities, El Mirage is an up and coming small community poised for transitioning into an exciting, interesting and creative community in the West Valley.
